J'adore!

I love these little ones. Being single and having no kids of my own, I get tons of kid time with 11 nieces and nephews!  I was watching Prima's weekly video tonight and the artist was making a canvas with a photo. I loved the idea so set out to make my own. I took just under 2 hours and I love it. I cant wait to put it on my wall at my office!!

The iphone photo doesnt do it justice. It is an 8x10 canvas covered in gesso with somw molding paste and a dollar store damask stencil. I cut the Eiffel Tower and J'adore from My Minds Eye Paper. I also cut cut the flowers from a 6x6 MME paper pad. The flowers include paper and fabric (Prima and Recollections) Recollections leaves and Dollar Store bling swirls. Edges are inked with Walnut Distress stain by Ranger. A little gold color shine splatter and a Michaels $1.50 gold frame hot glued on the canvas finishes it off. Really love this one!

Scrapbookers Paradise Challenge

I have decided that I am going to try to blog more this year.  It is my goal to post something 1-2 times per week (instead of once per year!)  I am going to use it to showcase what is happening in  my life both artistically and generally.  I hope that you can find inspiration and something interesting to bless your day!

So I will start with a challenge.  I havent done a Playing in Paradise for a while and thought that I would attempt to do another one.  I have been working on a mini album of selfies taken from our 3 week European adventure (which I am going to showcase in a future blog post when it is done...should be sometime next week if all goes well!).  The album is all 4x6 pages with 3x3 intagram style selfies.  Here is one showcasing one of our days in Rome outside of the large building at Piazza Venezia.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on it.  Being that it is much smaller and not square, I was challenged with changing it to make it work...

This little 4x6 card is packed full of Teresa Collins Far and Away goodness.  It has multiple pattern papers from the 6x6 paper pad and stickers.  I cut the letters from a gold glitter paper and added the same glitz behind the sticker with a 1.5" circle punch.  I used a Fiskars 2" scalloped circle layered under the sticker and circle.  I also did hand stitching down the left side with gold thread.  I used different ends on the paper pieces with banners, diagonal and straight edge to provide interest. All the edges are inked with Black Soot Distress ink from Tim Holtz and a Navy SEI ink pad.  I am loving using more than one color on the edges to make it look more distressed.  I stamped the location with Studio G alphabet stamps.  In this album I have let go of perfection and let my stamping being crooked and crazy! To finish it off, I used Heidi Swapp Color shine in Gold for some ink splatters and an office date stamp for the date.  I didnt know if the small layout could handle this sketch, but I am coming to like it more and more as I look at it.
Thanks for stopping by!!

So Excited!!

I am very excited that in a couple of months I get to have a relaxing creative weekend once again.  It has begun to be a tradition with me and my mom...we head to Calgary for a weekend of accomplishing much scrapbooking, buying way too much stuff, and bonding with mom.  With her having 5 childs who are all married (but me) and with 9 grandkids, I dont get to spend much quality one on one time.  This time at Camp allows us both needed down time...to laugh, talk, learn, and connect.

Here is to another great year of accomplishing much scrapbooking!!!

Meeting Marie...

Another one for my Disney book...and the scan doesnt do it justice.  With the pastel colors, it was tough to get it to show up in the picture, but here is one that I have been thinking and planning for a while.  I wanted a strong Parisian feel to it, so Pastel paper used from the Luxery Pack from DCVW, iron on Fleur de lis, the silhouette used to cut out the Eiffle Tower (then glittered) and the leaves, feathers, Prima Flowers, MM metal frame, gems, Martha Stewert Butterfly punch, lots of glitter, and I believe a Jolee's Marie sticker pack.  I sewed around the outside of the page, though that is a little difficult to see and used lace and ribbon.  And of course, the edges are inked, though with MM pewter ink versus my usual black or walnut stain.  So much going on, but I love it....

Birthday???

Unfortunately this didnt scan as vibrant and bright as it is in real life.  I havent been a fan of the banner craze, but did make this one as a banner.  Prima flowers, brads, ribbon, and silly faces for blowing out the candles :)  No page is complete without inked edges in my world.  I try to leave them, but then they always end up inked!  Thanks Tim Holtz for Walnut Stain!!!
